Truth and Training Girls

Our Truth and Training (T&T) club for third through sixth grade girls is different than most. We have discovered that by seperating the girls from the boys for the entire club night (including council time) clubbers feel less pressured and are more eager to participate. This also allows us to rearrange the meeting format so there are less clubbers per room. T&T clubbers are awarded team points for various reasons. These points are added together and the team with the most at the end of the night wins a "surprise" the next week. We also use a "share" system to motivate our T&T clubbers. Clubbers are awarded shares for many things, such as particpating in theme nights and doing his/her verses. When a clubber reaches 25, 50, 100, 150, or 200 shares he/she earns a specified prize. T&T clubbers participate in game time. During game time they focus on working as a team and doing the best that they can do. Teams are awarded points during this time for team work, cooperation, and listening. Clubbers of this age group also have council time where they are encouraged to learn more about God through song, prayer, messages, and sharing thoughts with others. These clubbers also have handbook time in which to recite the verses that they (hopefully) memorized during the week. This opportunity gives the clubbers a chance to get to know his/her leader and other clubbers in a smaller group setting. Clubbers who complete a discovery (divisions of the handbook) are awarded seals for his/her award badge. Clubbers who finish the entire book earn a special ribbon or medal (depending on the book) at awards night. Team points are also awarded during handbook time for doing verses, working on verses at home, participation in theme nights, behavior and more.
Fifth and sixth graders books have been revamped! Instead of having the same books as the 3rd and 4th graders AWANA has created books just for them!
Clubbers learn at their own pace but to be on track for finishing a book they should pass one discovery per month.
